last weekend I spent an absolutely perfect sunday with ambika of nickels arcade at The Armory Show. I’ll post our outfits tomorrow, but in the mean time, I loved ambika’s ring. I’m obsessed with animal jewelry and this hawk’s beak was a beauty.

I took this photo last weekend in chelsea market. The gentleman’s energy was contagious and he had everyone stopped still in their tracks. You couldn’t help but stop and smile at this little boy, so captivated. I wish I knew the background of this man- he was so talented and so much fun to watch

the boys section at zara with one of my favorite new discoveries … it’s a treasure trove of button downs, blazers, bomber jackets, and apparently isabel marant-inspired sweaters (plus elbow patches and toggle closures… double win)… who knew?

I can’t stop dancing around my apartment and this time it’s thanks to a crew of human trees and sparkly silver mini dresses. Charlene Kaye’s new single Animal Love I dropped with a trippy cool video to match last week over at Glamour.com and the video is directed by none other than Liann Kaye (the younger half of this ~~genetic~~ musical win-fall). Check out the video for Animal Love I and then head over to Glamour magazine to read the whole interview with Liann and Charlene.

Charlene’s playing in NYC on March 30th at Rockwood Music Hall… 7pm. Seeyathere.

ambika (of nickels arcade) and I happened upon this dude while we were hanging out in soho this evening. ambika stopped him for his rad jacket which he customized himself, complete with red & black lego heart. we both love a style savvy gentleman, but this gent’s DIY side gets him double bonus points.

Lemonade: Detroit is a fantastic short by Erik Proulx. In 17 minutes he gives the most accurate and inspiring portrayal of Detroit I’ve seen and makes me excited for all of the promise that the city holds. I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit and I have so much respect for the amazing people working to revitalize the city. And I am honored to make a (very short) cameo in the film as I closed Joe Faris’ runway show at Fashion In Detroit in 2009.

I ran into this pair while shooting on 5th avenue a few weeks ago. They were in New York visiting and I love how they were both

1. put together from head to toe (those boots!)

2. so sweet when I stopped them

3. a lovely reminder of how amazing it is to be a tourist in New York

I love a well dressed gentleman (and especially appreciate this attention to detail) and I love a woman who can pull off a cape ( & has the confidence to rock Lagerfeld-inspired leather gloves!) . I think we’ll be seeing a lot of this plaid come fall on everything from pants to kilts, but I love the idea of really making the statement with not-your-average outerwear.
