ella sven launches online next month and I can’t wait to share the amazing video we collaborated on together to coincide with the launch.

Randomly enough I get my music suggestions from American Vogue. Somehow knowing that it was printed in ink, well in advance of the date it landed in my hands, makes me feel like there must be something enduring about their suggestions. And I’m rarely led astray… (cue collegiate obsession with Vampire Weekend. Not sorry.) So when last month’s issue lauded a 15 year old with a crazy powerful voice I ended up here, her dark and beautiful cover of Bon Iver. And then I blasted it over and over again in my apartment. I suggest you do the same.
video: Birdy, “Skinny Love”’

Last weekend I spotted these two women on 5th Avenue wearing the most beautiful ombre outerwear. The perfect mix of this season’s Pendleton/”tribal”/fairisle trend and last season’s “girls who had the balls to ombre their hair” (a la Rumi Neely) trend. If it isn’t clear, I LOVE these. The perfect, it’s 55 and sunny in NYC in January and tomorrow it might snow, jacket.
I love the cut of the first one… Unfortunately you can’t see the entire thing but it hit just below the hip, cinched at the waist with a matching tie belt. Very cozy reading next to the fireplace with my J Crew clad boyfriend and a golden retriever vibe… but I digress.
The only problem is… I can’t find one anywhere! J Crew did one last year (sold out)… I’m holding out on Mikkat Market to pop one up any day… but really… Anyone? Where can I find one of these??

Apparently I’m really big on throwing peace signs at every camera that will pay attention.
Happy New Year Everyone!

Your AC is blasting, the markets are sold out of mint, and really, nothing sounds SO fun that it warrants leaving your house. But while you’re cursing summer and wondering how you can get away with wearing any fewer clothes, we’re holed up inside blasting the new videos from two of our all time favorites. Because really, other than Governor’s Island, there’s nothing better in the summer than a few fresh beats (and the summer shows that accompany them)
Hoodie Allen ‘The Chase is On’
Because the girl in the sparkles and chef’s hat really steals the show… and the only way we’d ever go to another college house party was if Hoodie popped in.

Charlene Kaye ‘Human’
The song might not be new to long time fans of Charlene but the video sure is, and if you’re in the mood to slow it down (or lucky enough to live in a city where bonfires won’t get you instantly arrested), we’d highly recommend it. Director Liann Kaye is back, elevating this sisterly duo to another artistic level entirely. Plus I secretly want to steal all of Char’s wardrobe…

Dear Mr. Blahnik,
You’ve really done it this time. You’ve taken every Garance Doré, house in Sorrento, summering in St. Barts burning desire and funneled it into the perfect minimal, comfortable, stays on your feet while romping on the beach, yet politely graces the dinner party, sandal. So beautifully european and just asking for a romper… or an A-line… or a bikini. Finally someone got simple so, so right.

any excuse to indulge in five macaron is welcome but none the less,
Happy Bastille Day!
The night before I left Detroit I had the opportunity to shoot with LA expat and hair stylist Ab McDonald and photographer Ka Xiong. Ka is known for his beautiful video portraits made on set and I am honored to be featured in his newest video, here. I can think of no better way to say goodbye to Detroit than with one last chance to work with these incredibly talented artists.
